Crime Prevention Association Recognizes Perry Police Officers
Two Perry Township Police Officers will share the Miami Valley Crime Prevention Association’s “Team Player Award” for 2009. The recognition was announced December 8 at the MVCPA Annual Awards Banquet held the Cox Arboretum. The award, received by Investigator Jerry Bowerman and Sgt.
The Perry officers were nominated by Chief Bob Bowman and supported by letters from township residents, businesses, fellow officers and the Township Board of Trustees. The nomination letter states, “They inspire others to join with them in exceeding service expectations & needs,” and is reflected in the many projects the police department has undertaken such as an annual Easter Egg Hunt which draws hundreds of kids each year, a summer fishing derby in partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, as well as the current projects: Coats for Kids which collected more than 400 coats, as well as Shop with a Cop and Food for Friends Drive which are both holiday related. According to Chief Bowman, Carter and Bowerman both set a great example for their fellow officers and are “always working on the next project”.
