IFCPP 2004 Annual Conference

We are pleased to announce that the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection's 2004 Annual Conference, Seminar, Exhibits & Certification Program will be held at the Harrah's Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, November 7-11, 2004.

While the 2003 "Hearst Castle Experience" is impossible to beat, we're making every effort to make the Las Vegas conference a new and rewarding experience. This year’s educational program is already shaping up to be one of the best ever! In fact, our 2004 Conference will open a new era in IFCPP development. We will continue the tradition of bringing the very best in programs, presenters, and conference activities to attendees from across the U.S. and abroad, with representation from every aspect of the professional spectrum.

General Sessions will bring forward exceptional programs on a wide range of emergency preparedness topics, including Business Continuity, Emergency Management Planning, and Protection of Collections During Crisis. Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) is the "buzz phrase" for new construction and expansion. We'll take a close look at this vital concept. General Sessions will be presented Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings, November 8-10. While certification programs are running each afternoon, we'll also offer special sessions to include expert panels, problem solving, and emergency coordination tabletop exercises. The CIPM and CIPS programs have been expanded to1½ days each (also to be conducted in three half-day segments on November 8, 9 and 10) to continue the excellent instruction that marks our previous programs, but will now include additional education on emergency planning and coordination. These programs have become, and will continue to expand upon, their roles as the finest professional instruction available in any certification program.

Special new features in pre-employment screening, and retail theft recovery will also be introduced. Directors, Facility Managers, Business Managers….if you don't have an operational Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plan now….you NEED to attend these important sessions.

We are also going to add a whole day of valuable hands-on options. Attendees, spouses, and visitors will be able to attend a special session on self-defense...a program specifically designed for the protection of cultural property staff and visitors. Another optional program will offer certification training in the use of Automatic Emergency Defibrillators. Participants will be pre-qualified through CPR and/or First Responder First Aid training.

Our special exhibits are just that...special. We feature those hand-picked vendors whose products and services are directly related to the protection of your facilities. The latest technology in electronic management systems, video surveillance, intrusion and fire detection, fire suppression, and much more will be on display with experts on hand to explain and demonstrate.

Our chapter membership is growing, and we will have a special round-table program for Chapter Boards and all interested parties to learn what's going on in each region, as well as an opportunity to get involved from the ground level. And then of course, let's not forget where we're meeting. There will be optional tours of some very special sites, and some great entertainment surprises. This is another NOT TO MISS conference opportunity!

Times for the reception, activities, workshops, and meetings are being finalized now. All group nighttime activities (to be announced) will require pre-registration. We encourage you to bring your spouse, companion, or family to join the fun. All attendee companions will be eligible to attend evening receptions and to choose from a variety of excursions and activities at cost. Suits and ties…are for those other conferences. Our attendees learn more, retain more, and enjoy more in our relaxed, informal environment. Casual dress is recommended for all events.
