A computer "cookie" is a small text file which contains a unique ID tag, placed on your computer by the IFCPP server. The website saves a file with a matching ID tag. When you revisit IFCPP’s website days or weeks later, the site can recognize you by matching the cookie on your computer with the counterpart in its database.
Cookies are not viruses. But in most cases if cookies are not enabled in your computer you will not be able to retrieve a lost username or password.
